Supporting individuals in pet care businesses in their professional development is one of the Pet Care Trade Association's core principles. Helping businesses to add value by extending their knowledge base is achieved through our diverse education programme. Members of the PCTA are entitled to a discounted rate on all courses. We have developed the only industry-led nationally accredited qualifications in dog grooming, pet store management, and kennel & cattery management. For decades, we have been associated with City & Guilds/NPTC in designing, delivering and examining these courses. We have recently extended our training portfolio to become even more responsive to the needs of businesses. Recognising the demand for accessible, bite-sized learning, the PCTA has developed a popular series of seminar and workshops. These range from one-hour sessions on subjects such as lungworm, reptiles as a retail opportunity and animal first-aid at the popular Petindex trade show (go to Petindex 2010 for details of this year's programme), to full one day workshops on exotics animals. Added to this is the fact that these seminars are now supported by our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme, enabling busy professionals already at Level 3 in their education to frequently top up their skills by attending our accredited seminars and workshops, and gain CPD points and certificates in the process.
