Upon joining, all groomer members promise to abide by the BDGA's code of Professional Groomers' Charter, a code of practice designed to guarantee the highest standards of customer care and animal welfare. All groomers who are members of the Trust automatically become members of the BDGA.

The centrepiece of the BDGA calendar is annual the British Dog Grooming Championship, where groomers compete for the prestigious title of 'Groomer of the Year'. The 2010 event will be held on Sunday 24 October at the Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. For further details, including entry information, please go to our events section.

Grooming Snippets, the official newsletter of the BDGA is given to members twice a year. It provides information, advice on issues affecting groomers, exams, qualifications, seminars and other events, product reviews and challenges within the industry.

The backbone of the BDGA is its volunteers: ordinary grooming members who give up their time to develop grooming standards and to help new groomers get started. There are ten voluntary regional representatives across the country who work to promote the BDGA by hosting regional events to involve local businesses. The BDGA also attends events such as Eurogroom and Crufts to provide information on training, events and membership. A full list of current regional representatives is available. Many Regional Reps organise local events of interest to groomers. Please contact your regional rep. for futher details.
